Project Overview

I designed and built Bellaton, an analog Wear OS watch face inspired by the clock face of Big Ben.

Design problem

I wanted to keep the structure of a traditional clock while making room for up to six complications. The layout also had to remain legible in both light and dark modes.

My approach

I began with the Roman numerals and proportions of the reference, then explored how additional information could fit within that structure.

Integrating the data

I iterated on the placement, size and opacity of the complications, balancing their visibility with the hands and numerals.

Light and dark modes

I adjusted contrast, shading and highlights across both modes so the same elements could work against different backgrounds.

Working through implementation

Testing exposed differences between the intended design and how colors and layers rendered. I refined those details alongside spacing and alignment across the available variations.

Delivered

A configurable analog watch face with up to six complications and light and dark modes. The visual identity carries through both a simpler time display and a more information-rich configuration.

What the project shows

The work centers on refinement: taking a familiar visual structure through layout, contrast and implementation decisions until it supports a wider range of uses.
